While Alien: Romulus is currently stealing the spotlight with its box office success, the Predator franchise is also going strong, and we’ve got some updates on its future.

The most recent film, Prey, released on August 5, 2022, received positive reviews, and director Dan Trachtenberg is now working on another standalone entry, set to release in 2025. Titled Badlands, this film promises to continue the franchise in an exciting way, with some intriguing moments expected.

We can confirm that filming for Badlands is underway in New Zealand, and the team at AVP Galaxy, a dedicated fan site, has shared some fascinating plot and casting leaks. For all the details, keep reading our report!

As per AVP Galaxy, Borderlands is currently being filmed in New Zealand and while we still don’t have any precise release info, the fans have managed to find out more details about the plot, as some initial details have leaked online, as per AVP Galaxy:

A groundbreaking film in which one of the two main storylines delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, their familial ties are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions.

Clearly, the movie is set to take a different approach compared to previous Predator films, which could offer a refreshing twist to the entire series. In addition to the plot details, AVP Galaxy has also shared a key casting update about the film’s main heroine:

[THIA/TESSA] – This casting is for a dual character, and describes both characters. Character identifies as female or non-binary, open ethnicity, mid 20s – mid 40s. Thia has spent most of her life in a laboratory and is now embarking on her first big adventure in the world. She is incredibly smart, witty, enthusiastic, and unflappable. She has an innate disregard for danger, not because she’s fearless, but simply because she’s naive. Strong comedy chops required. // The other sister, Tessa, has a militant intensity when it comes to achieving her family’s goals and mission objectives. She will not let anything get in her way, not even her twin sister.

This new approach certainly seems intriguing, and it could provide the franchise with a much-needed breath of fresh air that fans are likely to appreciate. However, with comparisons already being drawn to The Acolyte, the movie may also attract criticism from some “true fans,” setting the stage for a lively debate when it eventually takes center stage.
