Out of Control: Haters Are Now Targeting ‘The Acolyte’ Merchandise in Their Toxic Campaign

No other Star Wars project has sparked as much controversy as ‘The Acolyte‘. Since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, many Star Wars projects have faced fan criticism, but none have reached the level of backlash that this series endured, which has escalated into a full-blown hate campaign by what appears to be a vocal minority.

After eight episodes, it was recently reported that Lucasfilm would not be moving forward with ‘The Acolyte’, and a second season is no longer in the cards, much to the disappointment of fans who were hoping for more. Although the series had its flaws, likely contributing to its cancellation, the sheer intensity of hate from so-called fans has been astonishing.

We previously reported that series star Amandla Stenberg has been subjected to bullying by these so-called “fans,” who come off as toxic haters rather than true Star Wars enthusiasts. Now, it seems this group has set its sights on another target: the show’s merchandise—a move that, frankly, seems completely absurd.

We’ve reported on how these so-called “fans” have been review-bombing the show for absurd political reasons throughout its run. Although this likely had little influence on Disney’s decision to cancel the series—since this group represents a vocal minority—it sparked significant debates and controversy online.

The hate campaign was extensive, targeting both the show and its cast and crew, with many haters—some even admitting it themselves—having never watched a single second of the series. This fact speaks volumes about the true nature of the campaign. Now that the show has been canceled, one would think the backlash might subside, but instead, it has only intensified, reaching new levels of toxicity.

As seen in the screenshots, these “fans” have taken their hate to a new level by review-bombing ‘The Acolyte’ merchandise on various online shopping platforms—a completely senseless and absurd move.

Firstly, why invest so much time and energy into something you despise, especially now that the series has been canceled? This behavior says more about the individuals behind it than anything else. Secondly, have you considered that you might be harming the sellers of this merchandise? These are everyday people—your friends, neighbors, and relatives—and your actions could affect their livelihoods. Not exactly a brilliant strategy…

We can only hope this toxic campaign ends soon and that these so-called “fans” finally move on, as this level of negativity no longer makes any sense.
