Fans Rank 10 Best DCEU Movies

Share:

DCEU started out as a largely ambitious idea to replicate the success of the rival MCU. Warner Bros. came up with a decade-long plan to bring to the big screen some of the most iconic characters from the DC comic universe.

While the movies were profitable, the audiences disliked Snyder’s darker take on the characters and it was eventually disbanded with Gunn’s newly rebooted DCU put in place. While some movies were considered to be disasters, DCEU did give us some timeless superhero hits. Due to this reason alone, fans gathered on Ranker to vote for the 10 best DCEU movies, so, let’s check them out.

10. ‘Blue Beetle’ (2023)

‘Blue Beetle’ was one of the last movies to be released under the DCEU umbrella, focusing on a superhero of the same name. Despite not attracting massive crowds to the cinema it was overall a decent movie with wholesome family themes and a wonderful portrayal of the character. The best part is that Blue Beetle is bound to continue his story in an animated series that’s going to be part of the DCU!

9. ‘Black Adam’ (2022)

I’m honestly not sure whether ‘Black Adam’ would make it to my top 10, but it was the movie that sort of let us know that DCEU has limited time to recover. To make matters worse, it was also a movie through which Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson started his “coup” on DCEU leadership. ‘Black Adam’ featured high-octane action scenes and an impressive lineup of stars but even that wasn’t enough for it to succeed and it was a notable box office flop.

8. ‘The Flash’ (2023)

I personally liked ‘The Flash’ so I would put it a bit higher on the list. Generally, however, the audiences hated that Ezra Miller was reprising his role despite all the legal troubles and they decided to boycott the movie. The other part of the fandom that did not mind Miller’s Flash, did not bother to see the movie since by that point it was already known that DCU would be replacing DCEU. Still, the movie did bring us Keaton as Batman again so it has to count as something

7. ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (2016)

Generally, this movie was memed to hell and back, but fans learned to appreciate it over time along with its darker brooding themes. It’s the movie that brought us Wonder Woman. It belongs exactly here on this list.

6. ‘Shazam!’ (2019)

‘Shazam!’ was a major success for DCEU since it was the first time that a C-list character was supposed to carry a movie by himself, and it was successful. The film’s light-hearted, humorous tone set it apart from other darker superhero movies in the franchise, and Zachary Levi’s portrayal of the titular character, Shazam, was a standout!

5. ‘Man of Steel’ (2013)

‘Man of Steel’ was Cavill’s first outing as Superman, and the movie wasn’t received all that well due to Superman breaking his no-kill rule. However, ever since then, Cavill is placed right near the top when it comes to best Superman on-screen portrayals so we’re not quite sure what to make of this placement.

4. ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021)

Yes, of course, we’re talking about Gunn’s movie here. Unlike the original film, which was criticized for its underdeveloped characters, ‘The Suicide Squad’ offered more depth and backstory for its ensemble cast. Each character was given a clearer role and personality, making them more memorable and engaging. Gunn was given more creative freedom and a larger budget to fully realize his vision. This resulted in a film that was both visually and story-wise bolder, pushing boundaries in ways the original film couldn’t.

3. ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ (2021)

The development of the original ‘Justice League’ was marked with personal tragedies and on-set issues, it was the movie that allegedly made Affleck swear off superhero movies in general. At four hours long, ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ allowed for a more comprehensive and detailed storyline giving more depth to characters and featuring better action scenes. It was an overall better movie than what Whedon delivered.

2. ‘Wonder Woman’ (2017)

DCEU’s Wonder Woman will be remembered for its outstanding box office result and brilliant portrayal by Gal Gadot. The movie was an emotional and action-packed origin story, exploring her early life on Themyscira and her journey to become a hero. To this day, it remains one of the most successful origin stories done on-screen, and we completely agree with the ranking!

1. ‘Aquaman’ (2018)

No one and I mean no one, could have predicted the massive success this movie turned out to be, especially when Aquaman’s character was more often mocked than respected. : The film was praised for its stunning visual effects and underwater sequences. Director James Wan brought a unique vision to the film, blending action, adventure, and fantasy with a sense of humor. But most of all, fans rushed to see Momoa’s portrayal of the character. With this ranking as well, I wholeheartedly agree!
