DCU has plenty of projects in the works under the watchful eyes of James Gunn and Peter Safran. The projects closest to us are the ‘Creature Commandos’ animated series and ‘Superman’ scheduled for a 2025 release, still plenty of live-action shows focusing on the most notable DC characters are in the works.

Based on recent rumors, the show focusing on Green Lanterns has gotten significant casting news.

Josh Brolin, better known to the superhero audiences by playing Thanos in MCU and Cable in ‘Deadpool’ franchise has reportedly joined the show as Hal Jordan, one of the three Lanterns that will be part of the show. The rumor comes from podcaster TheInSneider, as well as from Nexus Point News.

As of now, official sources and James Gunn did not confirm this news, and it was apparently one of the most kept secrets at the studio.

Three notable Green Lanterns will be appearing in the show, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner, with only Nathan Filion being confirmed to play Guy Gardner by the official sources. The question of who will play John Stewart still remains unanswered.

There are some rumors, however that point in the direction of the studio wanting a big-name star as John Stewart, and the recent reports indicate that it’s going to be a younger name, possibly an actor in his 20s which aligns with Gunn’s previous statements that he wants a younger cast in his DCU, possibly due to the longevity of the projects. This was also one of the alleged reasons why Cavill couldn’t keep his Superman role in the DCU.

Some previous casting details for the upcoming series suggested that it will feature a seasoned Hal Jordan and a younger John Stewart, as previously reported. DC Studios was actively seeking white actors aged 43-49 for Hal Jordan and black actors aged 27-35 for John Stewart. Josh Brolin is much older than this expected age range as the actor is currently 56 years old.

In any case, Brolin is a big name in superhero adaptations and we can’t wait to see what he can do with the character if he truly does end up playing Hal.
