‘Spider-Man 4’ is the next installment in Spider-Man’s movie series in the MCU. The movie was confirmed to be in development last year, but besides that, little updates have been given about the state of the project.

We know that the movie was looking for a new director since Jon Watts decided to step down and focus on other projects outside of the MCU. Former director recently explained that the success of ‘No Way Home’ will be hard to replicate so it’s best to leave on a high note.

For months now several names have been put forward as possible directors for the film, and one of them was ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings’ director, Destin Daniel Cretton, now The Hollywood Reporter reports that Cretton is in talks to direct the movie.

According to the publisher, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are returning as screenwriters, with Marvel’s Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal producing the project. Apparently, Holland and Zendaya are still not locked in for the project, but they did have extensive talks with the execs, probably negotiating new terms.

Little is known about the plot of the upcoming movie, but for several months, industry insiders have been reporting that the movie will either be a street-level story or a multiversal story. With the recent SDCC announcements and the new direction that ‘Avengers’ franchise is taking, most recent reports stated that the upcoming movie will, in the end, be a multiversal story, continuing the themes of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’

‘No Way Home’ left Peter Parker in a pretty bad place, as everyone, including MJ, forgot who he was.

The movie apparently begins filming in early 2025. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
