Fans Can’t Agree Whether Filoni Is Here to Save Star Wars or Burry It: “He has some kind of god complex”

When George Lucas stepped away from Star Wars, many fans felt that the new creative teams, particularly those behind the sequel trilogy and standalone films, deviated from his original vision. This shift led to mixed reactions about the direction of the franchise and a lot of controversy.

While the majority of problems have been blamed on Kathleen Kennedy, one name in particular is always put forward as the “savior” of Star Wars – Dave Filoni.

Dave Filoni is widely praised for his deep understanding of the Star Wars universe. He has worked closely with George Lucas and has demonstrated a strong grasp of the franchise’s lore, themes, and characters. His animated projects are hailed as the most popular in the franchise.

But, as always, there are two sides to every story and some fans are ready to vehemently argue that Filoni can’t save the Star Wars since he started to bury it as well. One Reddit user voiced their concerns online and while most of the complaints are subjective in nature, the person behind the post did raise some valid points

The fan argues that Dave Filoni is not the savior of Star Wars, citing that his role in ‘The Clone Wars’ was overstated since major creative decisions were made by George Lucas. They criticize Filoni’s writing for its repetitive characters, inconsistent tone, and lackluster worldbuilding, as well as his ego, which they believe prioritizes his own characters over the broader Star Wars universe. Additionally, they claim that Filoni’s directorial work, particularly in live-action, has been subpar, with stiff performances and numerous plot issues.

The majority of the comments went in another direction:

He’s not the savior of Star Wars because it’s never been in particular need of saving. But I enjoy his contributions to the franchise and will likely continue to do so.

Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong.

Really glad you aren’t in charge and I disagree with most of your points. I’ve enjoyed what he directed live action and wrote. Also, every time I’ve seen him interviewed, he never comes across as egotistical. He comes across as a huge lover of Star Wars. I’m glad Filoni is so involved.

Orange-Turtle-Power

Have you heard him speak? What ego are you talking about? What makes you an expert on writing, and enough of using these general statements about good vs bad writing. Everything you said was so far off it’s so insanely mind-boggling.

Filoni has his flaws but there’s nobody more qualified to lead star wars right now.

And no, Andor has the lowest viewership of all shows, so Tony Gilroy isn’t that guy

No matter who you agree with in this debate, it’s hard not to notice that the vast majority of people calling OP wrong never provided any arguments to back up their claims.
