It’s been over two years since Matt Reeves’s ‘The Batman,’ featuring Robert Pattinson, was released in theaters. The film garnered positive reviews from both critics and audiences, who appreciated its moody atmosphere and focus on Batman’s detective abilities.
Reeves is currently developing a sequel titled ‘The Batman – Part II,’ set to come out in October 2026. Before that, fans will have to make do with ‘The Penguin’ show that recently premiered with its first episode.
‘The Penguin’ is set just a week after the events of ‘The Batman Part 1,’ following the death of Carmine Falcone. In this new landscape, Penguin tries to seize the power left behind. Oswald will face off against Sofia Falcone, and Colin Farrell has described the series as “gruesome” and “dark.”
And this is exactly what the show delivered, even in its pilot episode, we’ve seen the lengths that Penguin is ready to go to to rule the city. The initial reactions of the reviewers were beyond phenomenal, and now that the show has finally premiered the fans have similar reactions as well:
The first episode pick up shortly after the tearing of the Seawall and the aftermath of Falcone murder with unsure leadership of the entire family in Alberto Falcone’s hands. In a moment of weakness and impulsivity, Cobb makes a split-second decision that will force him to stoke the flames of conflict between two rival crime families as well as put him in the crossfire of Sofia Falcone who just recently was released from Arkham Asylum.
