Why It’s a Good Thing Captain America Doesn’t Follow a ‘No-Kill’ Rule: His MCU Kill Count is Staggering

Comic book characters, including superheroes, are often responsible for significant destruction during their battles. For superheroes, this isn’t typically intentional, but damage and casualties are inevitable, whether they mean to or not. In some cases, however, the casualties are deliberate—superheroes sometimes have to eliminate their enemies to emerge victorious.

While some heroes, like Batman or Superman, follow a strict “no-kill” rule, they are the exception rather than the norm. Most superheroes don’t hesitate to kill, whether their foes are humans, aliens, or monsters.

With that in mind, let’s delve into the kill count of a major comic book character—specifically, his version in the MCU. We’re talking about Captain America, and you might be shocked by how high his numbers really are.

The data we’re sharing comes from an IMDb list compiled by user Creedswede, who took the time to track the kill count of both major and minor MCU characters, while also noting several key details. According to Creedswede’s research, Captain America’s kill count is as follows:

  • Captain America – 34
  • The Avengers – 17
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier – 20
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron – 40
  • Captain America: Civil War – 7
  • Avengers: Infinity War – 8
  • Avengers: Endgame – 6
  • Total kills: 132+

He also appeared in The Dark World, Ant-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Captain Marvel, and Loki, as well as in Deadpool & Wolverine, though he didn’t rack up any kills in those projects. Most of these appearances were either cameos or featured him in archive footage.

Based on the data provided, Captain America has taken down at least 132 enemies in the MCU, which surpasses the kill count of many MCU supervillains and most superheroes. While he’s still far behind Iron Man’s staggering 1,100+ kills, 132 is an impressive number.

Looking ahead, there are strong rumors that Captain America may return in Secret Wars and possibly more, either as his original self or as an alternate version called Nomad. If these rumors turn out to be true, his kill count could rise significantly.

These numbers are accurate as of Deadpool & Wolverine, where Captain America doesn’t appear (though Chris Evans does return as Johnny Storm).
