A couple of months ago we reported on a rumor that one very specific Captain America project was in development. According to popular leaker and scooper, a limited series following Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers was in development.
The show would follow Captain America as he returns the Infinity Stones back to their proper place in time following the Time Heist.
Some believed that this show was linked to the upcoming ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ Some who are unhappy with Sam Wilson taking on the mantle have been calling for Evans’ comeback. However, ‘Endgame’ didn’t leave many options for reintroducing the character, except through a variant version.
This limited show would make sense to appease quite the vocal part of the community, and it would make sense from a narrative point since the show would be taking place in the past before Steve Rogers decided to create the alternate timeline.
Nothing about the show was heard since, and we assumed that this rumor was mostly bogus. But it seems we were proven wrong. During Edmonton Expo 2024 Ross Marquand, who portrayed several characters in the MCU most notable being Red Skull and voicing Ultron, stated that he pitched an interesting story to the studio.
Apparently, Marquand wants to see a miniseries about Captain America returning the Infinity Stones to their proper place in time.
Now this doesn’t mean that the show is in development, it merely proves that the show was pitched and talked about and it proves that MyTimeToShineHello wasn’t so far off regarding it.
Evans recently returned to the MCU but in a vastly different role. He portrayed the Human Torch in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ reprising his role from the original ‘Fantastic Four’ movies.
The actor however crushed our hopes recently by stating he doesn’t exactly think about returning as Captain America, and it makes little sense for the MCU to bring back the original Captain America while trying to establish a new one.
