It’s no secret that The Boys has become one of the most beloved superhero series worldwide. With each new season, Eric Kripke’s vision has taken Garth Ennis’ dark and twisted spin on the superhero genre to even greater heights, making it one of the most-watched shows of all time.

As we gear up for its wild final season, we’ve decided to revisit the incredible fourth season that wrapped up recently. If you remember, we didn’t focus much on Black Noir before, but this season, he played a pivotal role, thanks to his intriguing resurrection and the character’s significant changes.

Not long ago, we covered the release of an in-universe audition tape featuring Nathan Mitchell, who portrays Black Noir. In this meta moment, he auditions for the role of the “new” Black Noir, and during the video, a revealing detail was dropped that might hint at something big for the future.

If you missed it, as part of the promotion for season four, The Boys released a hilarious audition tape featuring Nathan Mitchell as an unnamed character trying out for the role of the “new” Black Noir. It’s a clever, meta moment that adds to the show’s unique charm. Check out the tape here:

In the video, the unnamed character actually speaks (as does the new Black Noir) and reveals that he’s an alumnus of “God U,” short for Godolkin University—the superhero college featured in Gen V, the franchise’s first spin-off series.

Following the video’s release, Nathan Mitchell gave an interview with TV Insider, where he was asked if, based on the video, Black Noir might make a cameo in Gen V. Here’s what Mitchell had to say:

In your character’s audition tape, he mentions being a God U alum. Any hope to pop up in Gen V? Or does your character not get any time off from The Seven?

It’s definitely possible. We’ll have to wait and see. I think now that he’s unmasked, there are a bunch of possibilities and a lot of different avenues we can explore with Noir and the other characters in the show and in the universe. So yeah, I’d love to see that too.
