Thunderbolts*’ trailer was released recently. Although leaks and shots from the trailer have been circulating online ever since it was exclusively aired during the D23 event, we’ve finally gotten a clear look at all the hints and characters set to appear.

‘Thunderbolts*’ will introduce MCU’s version of Suicide Squad to the greater universe, but it’s also going to introduce one of the most powerful characters in Marvel Comics – Sentry.

Sentry will be portrayed by Lewis Pullman, and even though the actor already discussed some of the powers his character will have, the trailer also showcased the level of invincibility.

Not much regarding Sentry was seen in the trailer, but sharp-eyed fans have caught something extremely interesting that suggests that Sentry and Homelander from ‘The Boys’ franchise will have one thing in common – they are both manufactured superheroes.

Evidence for this stands in details from the trailer in the first image, you can see different hairstyle designs for Sentry, suggesting that his creators are trying to not only optimize his powers but also his looks for prime marketing.

The same images also contain different designs for his iconic belt buckle, once again it seems to suggest that everything about Sentry is targeted toward good PR and marketing.

This is quite the deviation from Reynolds’ comic book origin, in which he became a “superhero” by mere accident.

In the comics, Sentry (Robert Reynolds) gained his powers by ingesting an experimental super-soldier serum called Golden Sentry Serum. This serum was significantly more potent than the one that gave Captain America his abilities.

Robert Reynolds, a struggling, seemingly ordinary man, stumbled upon the serum when he broke into the lab of a scientist named Professor Cornelius. This serum was a derivative of the super-soldier formula, with the intent to create an even more powerful being. Ingesting the serum gave him the power of “a million exploding suns.”

Sentry became basically omnipotent but he also struggles with his “void” counterpart and insanity, so it’s going to be interesting to see how MCU will adapt this, and whether his creators will ultimately come to regret his creation. His insanity is another thing that makes him similar to Homelander.

One more thing that supports this “artificial” theory is in the rumors we shared several weeks ago, how the MCU is slowly trying to set up World War Hulk event though different agencies, corporations, and military powers now racing against each other to create superheroes and basically dominate “the market” of superpowers.
