The Star Wars universe stands as one of the largest fictional realms in existence. Since its debut, George Lucas’s original film concept has evolved into a vast universe filled with thousands, if not millions, of stories.

In addition to the blockbuster films, television series like The Acolyte and The Mandalorian have garnered significant interest. While some projects in the franchise have been more successful than others, the entire saga remains a key part of modern pop culture.

Recently, we reported that Disney and Lucasfilm officially announced plans to produce three new Star Wars films between 2026 and 2027, following the conclusion of The Acolyte. One of these films is expected to be a standalone story centered on Daisy Ridley’s Rey from the Sequel Trilogy.

Although the film was believed to be progressing, recent reports suggest that production has stalled, with Disney and Lucasfilm possibly shifting their focus to other projects. Meanwhile, Daisy Ridley shared her thoughts on her return in an interview, discussing how the haters and certain “fans” impacted her experience while portraying Rey.

The movie is intended to be a follow-up to Episode IX of the Sequel Trilogy, primarily focusing on Rey as she establishes a new Jedi Order. Its working title was New Jedi Order. Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy reportedly directing the film from a script by Steven Knight.

While preproduction was expected to be underway, no release date has been confirmed. However, current rumors suggest that Disney and Lucasfilm are delaying the film, which means it may be a while before we see Rey back on the big screen.

Amid these speculations, Daisy Ridley spoke with Premiere about her experience with the role, particularly discussing how negative reactions from some fans affected her personally.

The way some fans reacted to Rey was very harsh. Did you feel that?

No, no, no. I know some people expressed themselves negatively, but I don’t pay attention to that. Because it doesn’t really concern me: I can’t change the way some men view women. Unfortunately, that’s just how society works. And overall, I was very well received. I chose to focus on the positive.

As noted, Ridley wasn’t significantly affected by these so-called fans and is excited to return to the role, as we’ve discussed in previous articles. We believe this is a commendable approach to the situation, and we fully support the actress in her efforts to disregard the negativity and stay true to her character.
