Sweeney’s Black Cat Edges Closer to Joining ‘Spider-Man 4’ Following New Hint from Notable Insider

‘Spider-Man 4′ was confirmed to be in development more than a year ago, but in the recent few weeks, the movie has got a significant update. Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing the movie with the movie reportedly set to start filming in 2025.

Zendaya and Holland have not signed on for the movie yet, as the actors are reportedly re-negotiating the terms of their contracts.

Now the latest rumors come from MyTimeToShineHello, a notable industry leaker. As per MTTSH, the movie is set to start filming in May 2025, but it’s also apparently casting new male and female leads.

The male character is expected to serve as a “foil” for Peter Parker, meaning he will likely challenge or contrast Peter in significant ways, possibly as an antagonist or a rival, adding complexity to the story. The female lead could be a love interest, ally, or someone with an equally important role.

Hearing this, fans aptly concluded that the female lead is likely Sydney Sweeney’s Black Cat. Black Cat is the most rumored character to appear in ‘Spider-Man 4,’ and fans want the popular Madame Web actress to play her.

If you remember in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ MJ was among the people who forgot all about Peter Parker when Strange cast his spell meaning that the pair is supposedly no longer dating with MJ resuming her normal life with acceptance into MIT.

This confusing relationship between MJ and Parker means that the studio can introduce a new potential love interest for the web-slinger. Black Cat and Spider-Man have had a romantic relationship in the comics. Their relationship began in the late 1970s, and they have had an on-again, off-again romance throughout various storylines, there’s no reason not to attempt it in the MCU as well.

It would be an interesting change of supporting cast, as fans noted that Zendaya has become a bit stale, and also bringing her back so early would completely undermine the emotional impacts that ‘No Way Home’ had.

Sweeney herself also stated a few months back that she would love to join Zendaya’s and Holland’s universe.
