Sebastian Stan’s Recent Comments Leave Us Wondering Whether He’s Back to Being Winter Soldier Again

‘Thunderbolts*’ is just one of many MCU projects releasing next year, but fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about the movie. The movie is set to introduce a completely new team of misfits to the MCU, an equivalent of DC’s Suicide Squad.

It’s also going to mark the introduction of Marvel’s most powerful superhero – Sentry. There’s also the fact that many of MCU’s anti-heroes and former villains will reprise their roles, most popular among them being Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier.

Bucky Barnes was initially introduced as Steve Rogers’ best friend and fellow soldier during World War II. He initially serves as a supporting character, helping Steve in his transformation into Captain America. Bucky is captured by Hydra while on a mission with Steve, leading to his presumed death.

Later it’s revealed that Bucky was captured by Hydra and transformed into a lethal assassin. Luckily thanks to Rogers’ unwavering loyalty much of the damage has been undone and Bucky had one of the best redemption arcs in the MCU.

Now considering that Stan is expected to reprise his role in the ‘Thunderbolts*’ and that Thunderbolts as a team doesn’t always “play by the rules,” fans have been wondering what are the odds of seeing Barnes as his Winter Soldier persona yet again.

Stan recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his latest movie in which he is portraying the young Donald Trump, ‘The Apprentice.’ The actor was asked whether we can expect to see him as Bucky Barnes or Winter Soldier:

Kimmel: I do have one question for you, at the end of the trailer, you’ve got a gun, and you’re shooting at the other characters, and um, are you Bucky Barnes or are you Winter Soldier in that scene?

Stan: I think a little bit of both. It’s such an odd group you know. We talk about the movie as being kind of like, ‘St. Elmo’s Fire,’ or the other great John Hughes movie, I’m blanking on right now.

It’s just the oddest group, and they come together and hopefully, they don’t kill each other, and you know, maybe I don’t kill them first.

Considering the nature of the movie, we definitely expect Stan to showcase the qualities of both personalities.
