DC Studios Developing Solo Film for Batman Villains Bane and Deathstroke

DC Studios is currently hard at work trying to develop DCU a new cinematic universe on the grave of the former DCEU. But we also know that a separate thing is going on with ‘The Batman’ franchise helmed by Matt Reeves, and Todd Phillip’s ‘Joker’ franchise which is releasing a second installment in a week.

Now the latest reports by The Hollywood Reporter claim that two more popular Batman villains are getting their solo movies – Bane and Deathstroke.

DC Studios, under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, is working on a script by Matthew Orton, the writer behind the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ film.

Currently, no director is attached to the project. Both villains already appeared on the silver screen. Bane debuted in ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy by Nolan played by Tom Hardy, with plenty of fans praising his portrayal of the character. This appearance in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ catapulted him to the upper echelons of Batman villains among casual fans despite his relatively brief comic history.

Deathstroke also appeared in live-action played by Joe Manganiello. Joe Manganiello was first introduced as Deathstroke in a post-credits scene of the 2017 film ‘Justice League.’ In this scene, Deathstroke meets with Lex Luthor (played by Jesse Eisenberg) on a yacht. Luthor hints at forming a league of villains, setting up what appears to be quite an interesting collaboration between two characters.

After Affleck’s ‘Batman’ never came to fruition, Joe Manganiello wrote his own Deathstroke screenplay, which garnered some interest at Warner Bros. before the studio decided to reboot the DC Universe so the movie never happened but the actor is still likely the best choice for the role.
