The MCU, after successfully merging its films into a unified narrative, has also ventured into television, with several shows now considered part of the official MCU canon.

Managing such a vast array of storylines and characters takes immense effort, making it intriguing to explore the creative process behind this ever-expanding universe.

In a recent interview, Marvel producer Brad Winderbaum discussed Agatha All Along, which is currently airing, and touched on several interesting topics. In this article, we’ll dive into one key aspect of that conversation.

Specifically, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s first major series, featured familiar MCU characters and references. However, it has never been officially recognized as part of MCU canon, leading to some confusion. During the interview, Winderbaum was asked to clarify the show’s canon status. If you’re curious to know his response, keep reading!

As mentioned, the ScreenRant interview offered some fascinating insights, including a discussion on the canon status of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Winderbaum acknowledged the series’ popularity among fans and provided some clarity on its place in the MCU. Here’s what he had to say about it:

What do you what are the chances that Agents of SHIELD can be canon? Because it fits really well into the MCU

Brad Winderbaum: I think that Agents of SHIELD is a really great show and there was a long time where some of the best reveals in that show were during the Winter Soldier era where Hydra emerges and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I remember that feeling, even knowing what was happening, just being a fan, [going] ‘It really is connected!’

I think that there is, in a crazy way, like you said, it does feel like it fits into The Multiverse Saga in an incredible way. I want to go down this road with you, you know I do, but we’re just gonna take a deep breath for a second. Just know that I love that cast, I love Clark Gregg and I love that show.

As you can see, this is quite a complex issue, even for someone like Winderbaum, who plays a significant role in shaping the MCU as one of its main producers. Overall, it’s disappointing that the canon status of the show remains unclear, and we hope it will be clarified soon so we can discuss this beloved series as part of the official canon.
