Here’s All 10 Marvel Actors Officially Cast in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Movie

2025 will be a huge year for DCU, a newly established cinematic universe on the remnants of the former DCEU. Despite ‘Creature Commandos’ releasing first, both Gunn and Safran stated in the past that the upcoming ‘Superman’ movie is the true start of the DCU.

Not much is known about the movie plot-wise, but thanks to the set leaks and official announcements we know that the cast is pretty huge. What’s even better is that Gunn “borrowed” quite a few actors from the rival Marvel projects.

Due to this, we decided to summarize all ‘Superman’ actors that at one point appeared in Marvel projects.

1. Frank Grillo – Rick Flag Sr (DCU) / Crossbones (MCU)

Frank Grillo portrayed a notable villain Crossbones in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ The actor famously stated that he almost got fired by Marvel a lot of times due to constantly leaking information.

While the chances of his character appearing in the MCU again are low, he seems to be building quite the reputation in the DCU as the actor is confirmed to portray Rick Flag Jr. in animated form (‘Creature Commandos’) and live-action form (‘Superman,’ ‘Peacemaker’ season 2.)

2. Isabela Merced – Hawkgirl (DCU) / Anya Corazon (SSU)

Merced’s first foray into superhero waters flopped, as the actress portrayed Anya Corazon in ‘Madame Web’ which was a notable critical and box office flop. Still, when one door closes another one opens.

Merced was among the first cast members that were announced by James Gunn, she will be portraying Hawkgirl, Kendra Saunders to be more specific.

3. Sean Gunn – Kraglin (MCU) / Maxwell Lord (DCU)

Sean Gunn frequently appears in projects directed by his brother. His most popular role in superhero waters so far is that of Kraglin Obfonteri as the actor has been portraying him in all installments of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise.

It seems that Gunn is ready for a change of character as he will portray Maxwell Lord in the DCU, one of the notable villains of Supergirl and Superman. He is expected to also reprise his role in ‘Creature Commandos.’

4. Nathan Fillion – Master Karja (MCU) / Guy Gardner (DCU)

Nathan Fillion technically plays several roles in the MCU, but his most notable to date is that of Master Karja in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3). Fillion was also one of the first cast members confirmed for the upcoming ‘Superman’ movie. He will be portraying one of the most notable Green Lanterns, Guy Gardner.

5. Mikaela Hoover – Floor (MCU) / Cat Grant (DCU)

Mikaela Hoover, like Nathan Fillion, took on several roles in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise, appearing as Nova Prime’s Assistant in the first film and later voicing and performing motion capture for Floor in the third movie. She is set to portray Cat Grant in the upcoming Superman flick.

6. Edi Gathegi – Darwin (Fox X-Men Franchise) / Mr. Terrific (DCU)

Not technically a part of the MCU, but Gathegi was big before the MCU even existed. He portrayed one of the most powerful mutants, Darwin, in ‘X-Men: First Class.’

In the DCU, Gathegi also scored a notable role as he will be portraying Mr. Terrific as set leaks and photos confirmed. Although he doesn’t possess superpowers, he utilizes T-spheres that grant him various abilities, such as flight and invulnerability to technology, among others.

7. Nicholas Hoult – Beast (Fox X-Men Franchise) / Lex Luthor (DCU)

Nicholas Hoult portrayed Hank McCoy, also known as Beast, in several ‘X-Men’ films, including ‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Days of Future Past,’ ‘Apocalypse,’ and ‘Dark Phoenix.’ He will now take on the role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming ‘Superman’ movie; as Superman’s arch-nemesis.

8. Skyler Gisondo – Howard Stacy (‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Franchise’) / Jimmy Olsen (DCU)

Skyler Gisondo had a small role in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ franchise as Gwen Stacy’s brother Howard. His role in the upcoming ‘Superman’ will be far larger and he will be portraying Jimmy Olsen.

9. Alan Tudyk – Alistair Krei (‘Big Hero 6’) / Unnamed Cameo (‘Deadpool 2’)

Alan Tudyk, who is set to voice the radiation-manipulating villain Doctor Phosphorus in ‘Creature Commandos,’ has also been reported to join the cast of ‘Superman.’ Previously, Tudyk voiced Alistair Krei in Disney’s animated film ‘Big Hero 6,’ and made a cameo in ‘Deadpool 2’ as a redneck who gets tasered by Josh Brolin’s Cable.

10. Wendell Pierce – Unknown role (MCU) / Perry White (DCU)

Pierce is set to portray Superman’s hardass boss Perry White in the upcoming movie. Perry is depicted as a tough but fair editor, deeply committed to journalistic integrity. He frequently finds himself navigating the challenges of reporting on superhero activities, often relying on his staff to cover stories involving Superman and other metahuman events.

Recently, it’s been announced that Pierce has joined the cast of the upcoming ‘Thunderbolts*’ movie, however, his role is currently unrevealed.
