‘Agatha All Along’ Episode 4 Reveals that Agatha Might Die By the End of the Show: “I’m Getting Impatient”

Agatha All Along’ released its 4th episode this week. This week’s theme was Trial by Fire during which we found out the secrets of Alice’s family, Teen’s Sigil and we got a confirmation that Daughters of Liberty exist within the MCU.

In the last week’s episode, the coven lost its Green Witch, Sharon Hart, meaning they had to replace her. The coven cast a summoning spell seemingly wanting to attract a random Green Witch.

The Green Witch that they summoned turned out to be more than they bargained for, especially Agatha since it was Rio Vidal that crawled up from underground. Now we aren’t supposed to know this yet, but a Marvel merch leak confirmed that Rio Vidal is actually Lady Death.

Agatha and Rio bickered during the episode and several hints have been thrown our way to confirm that Rio is here to reap some souls. One of the most interesting scenes that foreshadows a grim future for Agatha takes place during the trial itself.

During the trial, Agatha is sitting in a recording studio and Rio approaches her. Rio cuts to the chase and openly threatens Agatha implying she is about to kill her, Agatha answers that it’s too early and Rio “confirms” that someone or something is after Agatha.

Rio: I’m feeling impatient. I’m feeling like I wanna cause some damage.
Agatha: You’re too early.

Rio: It wasn’t up to me. Magic as it does took the path of least resistance, and ferried the closest most appropriate candidate down, or up.

The second quote seems to imply that Sharon Hart died beacuse Agatha couldn’t die, and that now the rest of the coven awaits a similar fate until it’s Agatha’s time to go. In the rest of the scene, Agatha tries to make a truce with Rio, with Rio admitting that she is here for the coven’s “bodies.”

Now it’s clear that Agatha is marked for death, and there are several theories on why that is. Agatha, like most witches, had via magic an unnaturally long life span, now that her power is gone, it’s possible that Rio is the grim reaper sent to collect her soul.

It’s possible that Agatha and Rio had a deal in the past, something that Agatha managed to weasel her way out of with the help of magic and now that magic is gone, she is forced to face the music. Until Agatha is ready to die, it’s possible that she will be forced to watch everyone around her die.

The second theory is that Agatha made the deal with Rio to exchange her life for the life of her son, Nicholas Scratch, but for whatever reason that obviously didn’t work, and now Rio is here to collect.

Rio and Agatha obviously have a romantic history, and Rio herself admitted at the end of the episode that Agatha is her scar since she was forced to do something that hurt her very much.

The deal is a more likely scenario considering that Agatha is seemingly able to postpone her death, and she confirmed in episode 1 that the two do indeed have a deal and this is the reason why Rio can’t kill her.

Whether Agatha exchanged her son for eternal life or power or exchanged her own life for her son’s life remains to be seen.
