Ewan McGregor Shares Exciting Update on ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2

The Star Wars franchise has a packed slate of upcoming projects, ranging from James Mangold’s film set thousands of years in the past to ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu.’

There’s also a new movie centered on Rey, focused on rebuilding the Jedi Order 15 years after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ which is reportedly facing difficulties. Additionally, Dave Filoni is already at work on developing ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, along with other upcoming projects. Amid this wave of new content, fans have consistently been asking about ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2.

Ewan McGregor who portrayed the notable Jedi frequently voiced his wishes to play the character again. The actor claims that there are still so many stories to tell, and quite frankly fans reacted positively to his sentiments.

At Los Angeles Comic-Con, Ewan McGregor shared updates on the possibility of a Season 2. McGregor mentioned that they are “exploring” the idea of continuing the show. He also confirmed he wants to wear the Clone Wars armor again and hopes to collaborate with Hayden Christensen in more Prequels-era flashbacks, similar to those featured in Season 1.

These are indeed good news, especially since the director of the show initially hinted that Obi-Wan’s story was intentionally closed in the first season:

I’m sure you can tell from the story that it is closed. We did obviously seem to tell one big story. Who knows, there’s ten more years before ‘A New Hope’ starts, so never say never.

The possibilities for ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2 plotwise are many, though it’s still uncertain if it will happen. There’s nearly a decade of Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine between the end of Season 1 and ‘A New Hope’ that could be explored.

While another confrontation with Anakin would contradict the original trilogy, Season 2 could focus on Obi-Wan’s life on Tatooine, dealing with local threats or secretly protecting young Luke Skywalker from the shadows.
