Did You Notice? Rio Vidal Once Again Hints at Her True Character in ‘Agatha All Along’ Episode 5!

‘Agatha All Along’ recently released its 5th episode. This week’s episode has seen the coven facing the trial of Spirits, Agatha’s domain. Unfortunately, the coven entered the trial without much preparation since Salem’s Seven somehow managed to access the road by abusing the summoning ritual that wasn’t properly closed in episode 4.

The theme of the trial was a well-known trope, that teens obviously love to use Ouija Board during sleepovers, and this is exactly what Teen managed to find during the first few minutes in the house.

The rules of the Ouija Board are clear. Hands need to touch the board at all times, no taunting the ghosts, and the ritual has to be properly closed by saying goodbye. Agatha started the trial, and the first “spirit” to communicate with the coven was allegedly Mrs. Hart, who died during the events of episode 3.

Agatha started making fun of Mrs. Hart by imitating the way she talked and what she would talk about, trying to convince the coven that Mrs. Hart was in possession of her body. The coven quickly saw through Agatha’s antics, and the ritual was restarted. This time for real.

The next “spirit” that the coven has gotten into contact with is “DEATH.” As soon as the planchette on the board started spelling Death, Agatha got visibly nervous, and quite expectantly, Rio Vidal laughed at the mention of the word “Death.”

This is yet more evidence that Rio Vidal is indeed Lady Death and not Blackheart as we’ve previously assumed.

One of the biggest clues came in episode 4 however. When the Teen was dying from a glass shard injury. When Teen is supposed to die Agatha secretly pleads with Rio not to take him away by desperately saying “Don’t.”

Agatha clearly knows that Rio is Lady Death, but we’re not sure whether the rest of the coven holds those suspicions or not. They know that Rio is up to something, but it’s likely that they are not aware of the gravity of her situation.

Ultimately, Vidal’s identity was also confirmed via a Marvel merch leak, several weeks ago. The spirit in question ultimately wasn’t Death, it was Agatha’s mother, Evanora Harkness. Apparently, the goal of this week’s trial was to ditch Agatha and make her suffer alongside her mother, the coven was supposed to finish the road without Agatha.

All of this led to a tragic sequence of events that ultimately led to the death of Alice Wu. In order to save Agatha from the influence of her mother she started targeting her with her own fire magic.

Agatha started draining her power and her life force, leaving Alice a dead drained husk on the floor. This dramatic and emotional turn of events finally broke Teen’s cocoon, his magic broke out and at the end of the episode,, we see him defeating Agatha and the rest of the coven, by having a quicksand swallow them as he pushed them away from him with his blue magic.

The final scene of the show confirmed that Teen is indeed Billy Kaplan aka Wiccan. Interestingly enough, the only coven members who fell under Teen’s influence were Lilia Calderu and Jennifer. In those few final scenes, Rio Vidal was nowhere to be seen. She likely stayed behind taking care of the deceased Alice.
