Zachary Levi Reportedly Thought his ‘Shazam’ Role Was His Ticket to Being The Next Captain America – Now He’s Bitter About it

For many of our readers, Zachary Levi is best known for his recent portrayal of Shazam in the DCEU. The first film was a significant success, sitting well with both audiences and critics while proving profitable despite its focus on a relatively obscure character.

However, the sequel faced harsh criticism from both audiences and critics alike, resulting in substantial financial losses for the studios. Several factors may have contributed to this downfall, including the widespread knowledge that the film was not paving the way for future stories, given the DCEU’s decline at that time.

After the release of ‘Shazam 2,’ Levi generated headlines again by suggesting that James Gunn is a nepotist, pointing out his tendency to hire his brother, Sean Gunn, for various projects.

It’s likely that Levi’s frustration stems from the fact that he probably won’t be reprising his role in the newly established DCU. Additionally, his latest film, ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon,’ did not perform well at the box office.

In recent times, Levi has filled headlines due to his political views. Recently, the actor quite vocally endorsed presidential candidate Donald Trump, which many including the actor considered a “career suicide”

When Zachary Levi took the stage at a rally in Michigan on September 28 and endorsed Donald Trump, he described it as an act of “career suicide” that would jeopardize his prospects in “very, very liberal” Hollywood.

The audience at the rally saw this as an act of sacrifice apparently, however, The Hollywood Repoter’s source, the sources close to the actor and his situation, claim that his career has been dead for a long time now, which is something that made Levi bitter.

One of the sources claims that being cast as Shazam was a dream come true for the actor. Levi apparently hoped to make it big in superhero action, but as you all know this didn’t happen.

When he was cast as Shazam, it was literally his dream. He thought this was his ticket to being The Rock or Chris Evans. But it didn’t happen for him, and he’s bitter about that.

‘Shazam 2’ wasn’t a flop because of Levi. Plenty of fans considered him perfect for the role. It’s just that the second movie was too generic, and fans were already bidding their farewells to the DCEU who was set to conclude officially with the release of ‘Aquaman 2,’ something which was already known when ‘Fury of the Gods’ was released.

Levi is no longer living in Los Angeles as he relocated to Texas, according to the source, and he is now focusing on “faith-based” productions. This would make his recent endorsements and life philosophies a calculated career move rather than something that the actor genuinely supports.
