Michael Cudlitz, Lex Luthor Actor on ‘Superman & Lois,’ Hints at an Emotional Series Finale

Superman & Lois has become a beloved series that is likely to develop a dedicated cult following over the years. Currently, in its fourth and final season, the show will conclude after ten episodes.

However, the significance of the series finale goes beyond just wrapping up the show. It will also mark the end of the entire Arrowverse, adding an extra layer of emotional weight to the conclusion.

The cast and crew have hinted at a deeply emotional finale, and given what’s at stake, we believe that the season finale will be a remarkable and moving experience, especially for long-time fans of the series.

In this context, actor Michael Cudlitz, who portrays Lex Luthor, recently spoke with ScreenRant and assured fans that the series finale will be nothing short of epic, providing a fitting conclusion for both Superman & Lois and the Arrowverse as a whole.

Michael Cudlitz joined Superman & Lois as a guest star in Season 3 before becoming a series regular in Season 4. He portrays a unique version of Lex Luthor, distinct from what fans may be accustomed to, but given Luthor’s significance in the overarching lore, Cudlitz’s role is undoubtedly impactful.

During an interview, the The Walking Dead and Southland actor was asked about the possibility of a physical confrontation between Lex and Superman, to which he responded, “I would have loved that…that would have been awesome.”

While it seems that such a showdown may not occur, the ambiguity of his response leaves room for speculation, making it feel like a subtle tease. Regarding the season finale, Cudlitz shared his thoughts on the final episode and hinted at what viewers can expect:

I’m thrilled with where we went. I feel the finale is – as someone who became a fan of the show – wonderfully wraps up the entire story that we’re telling. An incredible amount of fan service is done to all of these characters and the fans, so no one feels left out.

Everyone has an incredibly satisfying arc and resolution in the show, plus it’s [an] incredibly emotional arc for the entire series, not just the individual characters, the family, as to where they go on the journey, and where the boys wind up in their relationship with their dad, mom and with everyone else in the show.

[I] couldn’t be happier with the show, and could not be happier with what they did with, I feel, an incredibly detailed, very specific, “What If…?” story with Lex. Starting from what if Lex was his driving force was pain from his loss of his daughter.

How would that resolve, and how would that collide into the world of Superman & Lois and what would/could be the resolution of that?

Based on everything we know, and wonderfully tying in the comics and the suit, which we’ve seen in the trailer, we know that’s coming: how do we get back to the Lex that is now from the Lex we started with who was this prisoner for 17 years and became who he had to become to survive in prison.

How does he reestablish himself back in the world and take over the life that he had prior?

As you can tell, we’re certainly in for something monumental, likely leaving us with a bittersweet feeling, especially knowing that there won’t be anything to follow.
