Tom Hardy Expresses Wish to Fight Holland’s Spider-Man: Is Return as Venom on the Horizon?

Venom: The Last Dance is set to release soon, generating immense excitement as fans eagerly anticipate the conclusion of Sony’s trilogy and its implications for the SSU. While many are curious about the fate of Knull, there are several intriguing aspects worth exploring.

One of these is Tom Hardy’s future in the series. We know the actor was contracted for a trilogy and has stated multiple times that he is finished with the role now that the third film has wrapped. But is that truly the case?

In a previous article, we speculated that Tom Hardy might not be finished with the character, especially since Knull’s storyline won’t be fully resolved in this film. Recently, the actor shared an intriguing wish that could suggest a possible return to the role.

Venom: The Last Dance is expected to be Tom Hardy’s final appearance as Venom. Although the Symbiote may return, it appears that Hardy’s Eddie Brock will not be coming back in the same form. Hardy himself confirmed this during a recent interview, stating:

I love playing Venom, but the contract’s up and we always knew we were doing three and this is the best of them all. We poured everything into it and absolutely love it. It’s an environment based on what people want so who knows what the future holds.

However, as we know, the film will conclude the trilogy with a cliffhanger, teasing Knull as the next major antagonist. Director Kelly Marcel confirmed this in the same interview:

We hope so. He’s a huge villain and so this is just a little taster of him. A little introduction to this character. One movie couldn’t do him justice. This is the runway to set him off on.

This aligns with the various rumors and leaks we’ve seen, and it was also anticipated, given that Knull’s appearance was merely hinted at. Knull is too significant of a villain to be relegated to a secondary role in just one film.

He requires more development to showcase his true power and danger, a sentiment that everyone involved in the movie recognizes.

Regarding Tom Hardy’s future, the actor has kept the door open for a possible return and has even expressed his desire for whom he would like to face off against:

I’ll fight Spider-Man whenever he wants…I would love that, who wouldn’t? I’d love to fight Batman as Venom. There’s so much to do with these characters.
