‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is shaping up to be the biggest MCU release since ‘Endgame.’ The movie will serve a similar purpose, being the finale of Multiverse Saga and it’s rumored to feature (for now) at least 50 characters, both new to the live-action and seen in other Marvel properties.

Yes, you’ve likely heard that this and that will appear in ‘Secret Wars,’ however today’s rumor holds more merit than the others.

‘Secret Wars’ will feature Doctor Doom as the main villain and the installment will presumably follow the comic storyline of the same name which will lead to a soft MCU reboot. But before MCU gets rebooted, if MyTimeToShineHello is to be believed, Thanos will make one more appearance.

Now MyTimeToShineHello is far from being reliable. However, some previous statements made by Brolin lead us to believe that this does hold some gravity.

Brolin confirmed more than a year ago that he heard through the grapevine that Thanos would indeed return. However, keep in mind that this doesn’t rule out that this supposed re-appearance is not related to the ‘What If…?’ animated series.

In any case, from the narrative sense, it absolutely makes sense for Thanos to appear, at least a variant, since Doom previously in the comics used Thanos to demonstrate what he is capable of so the MCU might kill Thanos rather early in the movie to showcase why everyone should be afraid him.

What happened? Well, following the conclusion of the ‘Time Runs Out’ storyline, one big incursion managed to destroy reality as we know it. Doctor Doom used the power of Beyonders to create one reality from remnants of former destroyed realities and he named it Battleworld.

He ruled as God Emperor Doom with Sheriff Stephen Strange as his right hand and the Foundation as his left hand.

The Battleworld was a relatively calm place but Doom was never quite pleased with it and considered himself to be the biggest flaw of this realm. However a series of discoveries will eventually lead the inhabitants of the place to realize the true origin of both Doom and Battleworld, and a series of insurrections happened to which Doom struck out viciously and cruelly.

Doom found one unlikely enemy in Thanos, who worked to get rid of Doom. Doom offered him the opportunity to keep his horde and his “lands” in exchange for stopping the attacks against him and ceasing all attempts to dethrone God-Emperor.

Thanos was insulted by Doom’s offering, claiming that he himself was a god at one point, reminding Doom that he used to wear Infinity Gauntlet, handling all its power. He called Doom a false god and a pretender and offered him a chance to bow to him.

Doom reminded him that he no longer had the Gauntlet and literally tore his skeleton from his body, leaving Thanos a tangled, massacred, and utterly dead mess.

As you can see, Thanos might not have any significant role, he might be used as a plot device to establish Doom as the biggest danger the MCU has ever seen!
