Fans Just Realized that Lilia Calderu Is To Blame for the Events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Episode 6 of ‘Agatha All Along’ revealed the mystery behind Billy’s sigil and why seemingly no one could figure out who or rather what he is. We learned that during Billy Kaplan’s Bar Mitzvah, the teen got a palm reading by Lilia Calderu who saw something troubling in his future.

His lifeline was split in two, and for unknown reasons, Lilia decided to cast a sigil on him, barring anyone from deducing his true identity. The lifeline split it two clearly indicated that Billy Kaplan would die but his life would continue – supposedly as someone else – Billy Maximoff aka Wanda’s son.

The moment Lilia Calderu created a sigil and dropped it in his coat pocket, she forgot all about him, and the Teen seemingly lost the ability to communicate who he is, although as subsequent events showed, he eventually did figure it out when he reincarnated as Billy Maximoff.

Now the spell supposedly not only hides his identity but also his entire existence, which solves one massive plot hole in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Madness’ – why Wanda went to all these great lengths to find her children in the multiverse when she had her sons technically alive on Earth-616.

Lilia’s sigil presumably blocked all means to locate him, or to figure out who he is. We don’t know why Sigil managed to stand up to the magic of Darkhold, but it did so Wanda was convinced that her children were alive but only in an alternate universe.

This means that Lilia unintentionally caused the events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If the sigil wasn’t in place, perhaps Scarlet Witch would be able to “feel” her two sons in her native reality.

However, this also opens up another plothole or complicates things on a completely different level because it implies that the sigil has nothing to do with Wanda being able to sense her Earth-616 children.

The sigil was cast only on Billy (as far as we know), and not on Tommy. In fact we know nothing about Tommy at this point save for what Billy has told us – that he can sense him, but can’t locate him.

It’s understandable why Wanda couldn’t locate Billy, but it seems quite strange that she couldn’t locate Tommy. Especially when Billy, who just started practicing magic managed to do it.

It’s all very convenient for the events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ and the events of ‘Agatha All Along’ but as you can see, it opens up a big plot hole.

The further confirmation of this being true is something that Agatha told Billy toward the end of the episode: Every witch with a heartbreat can hear you know. Possibly implying that his existence now without a sigil is quite obvious, meaning that Tommy’s existence was obvious from the start.

It’s complicated, and we’re yet to learn the details since the show still has 3 episodes to release, but so far, things stang like this. If Lilia Calderu did not cast that sigil on Billy, the events of MoM might possibly never have taken place.
