‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is MCU’s most recent installment and so far, the most successful when it comes to phases 4 and 5. The movie shattered several box office records and ultimately provided the fans with plenty of laughs and Deadpool and Wolverine’s introduction to the MCU.
Despite being received by the audiences well, the movie was criticized by critics for lacking depth. Surprisingly, it was also brought to connection with ‘She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.’ Apparently, critics noted that some things that were heavily criticized in ‘She-Hulk’ (for example, dance scenes) were praised in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ – blaming the lack of the show’s success on patriarchy once again.
Soon after the movie’s release rumors started to go around that She-Hulk was supposed to have two cameo scenes in the movie. Maslany filmed two cameo appearances in the movie, including a major fight scene with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
However, after two weeks of training, her performance faced criticism during test screenings for lacking the intensity and skill of her co-stars, resulting in the decision to cut her scenes.
Additionally, a controversial moment where She-Hulk reprimands Wade Wilson and Logan while breaking the fourth wall was removed at Ryan Reynolds’ request to maintain focus on the FOX legacy characters rather than newer MCU additions.
Maslany allegedly threatened legal action against Reynolds. But keep in mind that these are only rumors.
Maslany recently appeared on ‘Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast’ and addressed these rumors in a joking manner. The actress was asked about recent MCU gossip and she commented on her two cameo scenes and her alleged legal action against Disney.
I was in Deadpool & Wolverine. I had two scenes in it. And then Ryan Reynolds fired me from the show because he said, ‘I don’t like these scenes.’ Now I’m suing Disney
It’s safe to say that the actress, via this answer, debunked the rumors. The actress also further mocked part of the fanbase that accused her of spreading feminist propaganda:
I always talk about how much I hate Wolverine and Deadpool. I talk about it all the time. I also wish I’d just sit down and stop pushing my feminist agenda and just realize that [Deadpool & Wolverine] made a lot of money and She-Hulk only made three dollars
That’s why they were getting rid of me because I had this woke agenda and I really wanted to bring it into the movie.
We don’t know what MCU holds in store for She-Hulk, but the actress herself admitted some time ago that the show cost too much and failed to attract an audience, which means the likelihood of season 2 is really small.
