We know Why Wanda Was Unable to Sense Billy in ‘Doctor Strange 2’ But Why was She Unable to Sense Tommy?

One of the biggest mysteries of ‘Agatha All Along’ was the identity of the so-called “Teen.” Teen had a sigil cast on him which barred anyone from knowing his true identity and name – the sigil that Lilia Calderu cast on him on the night of Billy Kaplan’s Bar Mitzvah during palm reading.

We already wrote how this one sigil might as well led to the events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ during which crazed Scarlet Witch goes on a multiversal rampage. Wanda was able to sense her children in alternate realities so she needed America Chavez’s unique abilities to actually connect with her sons.

Now that we found out that both Billy and Tommy are alive, the question remains, why wasn’t Wanda able to sense them? When it comes to Billy it can be easily explained – the sigil was cast on him and not even the caster of the sigil – Lilia Calderu – could remember or sense him.

As soon as the sigil broke Agatha stated that every witch with a heartbeat can now properly identify Billy Maximoff. Due to this sigil, Scarlet Witch wouldn’t be able to sense Billy either.

But this doesn’t explain how Wanda was unable to sense Tommy. Tommy the second of the twins is, going by what Billy has told us, somewhere on the Witches Road – and he can miraculously sense him while his own mother couldn’t. Keep in mind that Billy is seemingly able to read minds, this might give him an edge when it comes to magical abilities.

There are several approaches on how to resolve this issue. Perhaps Billy and Tommy have some kind of a magical connection that’s stronger than even what Tommy and Wanda could share due to being twins.

The second approach is that perhaps Tommy has not reincarnated yet, and Billy is actually “sensing” something else. A couple of weeks ago we covered rumors that Marvel Studios is developing a standalone Wiccan project that is supposed to focus on Billy’s search for Tommy. Going by this, we can assume that Tommy won’t be at the end of the Witches Road and he won’t be located so easily.

Another option is that perhaps some other malevolent force (like Mephisto) is actually hiding Tommy from Wanda’s radar but is using him to lure Billy to his plans. Billy does have the potential to surpass even Wanda when it comes to spellcraft, as the actor himself stated, Billy is now the most powerful character on the show.

The last option is that it’s just a simple plothole, but we’re really hoping that isn’t the case since the explanation itself has a lot of potential to expand into an exciting story.
