‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Concept Artist Unveils a New Scrapped Wolverine Design Once Considered for the Film

Of the year’s three major comic book adaptations, Deadpool & Wolverine is the only one to truly meet expectations, winning over both fans and critics and becoming the second-highest-grossing film of the year.
Meanwhile, Joker 2 missed the mark with audiences, and although Venom 3 might earn a solid box office return and some fan approval, critics have already been less than enthusiastic.
An official art book from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has just been released, packed with concept art, sketches, and behind-the-scenes materials. One of the highlights is an unused variant design for Wolverine, which we’re excited to reveal here.
As you may recall, Deadpool & Wolverine was a crossover marvel, packed with alternate versions of popular Marvel characters making both major and minor appearances.
This Easter egg-filled spectacle thrilled fans, who saw it as a true gift. We’ve already covered many of these Easter eggs in detail, but as you might expect, not every planned cameo or reference made it to the final cut.
Several creative ideas were ultimately scrapped, some of which we’ve reported on previously. However, with the recent release of the official Deadpool & Wolverine art book, artist Andy Park shared an additional alternate design for Logan that nearly made it into the film. Here it is:

If you’re unfamiliar with this cowboy/outlaw-inspired version of Wolverine, it made its debut in Uncanny X-Men #268, a landmark issue that also showcases Wolverine’s first-ever meeting with Captain America. It’s a shame this look didn’t make it into the film!
