The Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse Trailer Is Here…And It Looks Great

Forget Venom. Forget Morbius. And forget live-action Spider-Man adaptations. The Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse trailer is here and if it is any indication, I believe that the movie will be great.

For obvious reasons (I own and write a comic book blog and have a corresponding YouTube channel) my opinion may be biased. However, I remind you that I am usually critical of superhero movies. For the last 15 years, we have been exposed to more superhero movies than at any point in mankind’s existence. While I spent my entire life waiting for such a time, not all have been good.

• Thor The Dark World was awful.
• Iron Man 2 was forgettable.
• The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was terrible.
• The Last Jedi was so-so.
• Justice League made me wish the characters had never met.
• Suicide Squad had me crying for all the wrong reasons.

And those are just a few. 

Superhero movies don’t always work because they have a high profile name attached to them. Superhero movies work when they are well-written, thoroughly thought through, and perfectly executed.

Thus far, Sony has yet to find this sweet spot. Even their latest addition, Venom (at the time of this writing) is receiving mixed reviews. And this is a problem.

Sony holds the card for the most commercially powerful hero in Marvel’s arsenal. Yet, for whatever reason, they can’t figure him out. From poor casting choices to awful scripts, their work with Spider-Man has been the living definition of biting into an onion.

Thankfully Sony keeps biting the onion.

Amidst all the hoopla (good and bad) associated with Venom, Morbius, Hellboy, and New York Comic Con exist the Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse Trailer.

And it looks f@cking awesome.

• Peter Parker Spider-Man 
• Miles Morales Spider-Man
• Spider-Man Noire
• Ghost Spider (Gwen Stacy)
• Spider-Ham

All under one big and beautiful roof. 

The animated film looks to feature flawless visuals, humor only associated with Spider-Man, villains from all facets of his history, and as many variations of the wall-crawler as possible. I personally cannot wait until this movie comes out. While I haven’t seen Venom yet, I have massive reservations about it. Whereas the Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse trailer leaves me with none.
