One of the most exciting announcements DC announcements this year was definitely the creation of ‘Absolute’ universe – similar to Marvel’s ‘Ultimate’ line of comics. DC has promised that this new universe will relate to the story from ‘Absolute Power,’ involving Darkseid, and offer fresh takes on popular DC heroes.

After the success of ‘Absolute Batman’ DC is completing its Absolute Universe with the release of ‘Absolute Superman’ #1. This new comic is written by award-winning writer Jason Aaron and illustrated by Rafa Sandoval.

Today, DC shared the final covers and interior art from the first issue, featuring colors by Ulises Arreola. It will be available at comic book shops and online on Wednesday, November 6.

The events of DC All In Special #1 have changed things for the DC Universe, where the main “All In” and Absolute universes now exist together, linked by one prophecy featuring the evil Darkseid.

The superheroes in the Absolute Universe have similar backgrounds to their counterparts but lack the same resources and face new challenges and enemies on their journeys. Aaron and Sandoval’s Superman is still the last son of Krypton, but it’s unclear if he can still be a symbol of hope and optimism in this new and different world.

Absolute Superman #1 is available for preorder now. It has a main cover by Rafa Sandoval and Ulises Arreola, along with several variant covers by artists like Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair, including a black and white version and a special foil cover featuring Superman’s S shield.
