‘Agatha All Along’ is the latest MCU installment and besides exploring a little-known magical and occult side of the MCU, it also introduced one character who has the potential to be extremely important in the future – Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan.
Billy spent most of his runtime being referred to as the Teen since his identity couldn’t be known quite literally due to the sigil placed on him by Lilia Calderu.
Toward the end of the show however, not only did we find out that he is Wanda’s son, but we also learn that he is already quite powerful with virtually no training and in the last 2 episodes, we get a glimpse of his comic-accurate costume.
Now Wiccan’s costume is quite specific in the show since it apparently combines elements from both of his parents.
Daniel Selon, the costume designer, wanted to convey Wiccan’s origins through his costume by incorporating elements from both of his parents. He used a dimensional print of the Scarlet Witch’s costume on the outside of Wiccan’s cape and Vision’s iconic cape design on the underside. This design choice symbolizes that both of his parents are always a part of him.
I wanted to represent his origins in his cape so we dimensionally printed the texture of the Scarlet Witch’s costume (from Dr. Strange) on the outside and printed Vision’s iconically graphic cape on the underside so that his parents would always be with him.
But besides this touching story related to his origin and parents, eagle-eyed fans caught one more reference, the one pointing toward X-Men.
Now the X-Men aren’t really a thing in the MCU currently, the team was properly and directly referenced only in this year’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The future of the team however seems bright as we are currently awaiting news and information regarding the upcoming X-Men live-action reboot.
It’s unknown if Wiccan will have connections to the team in the MCU.
