Morena Baccarin Is Ready To Take on Copycat Role in the MCU: “I’m not getting any younger or skinnier”

For MCU fans Morena Baccarin is best known for her role in the ‘Deadpool’ franchise. She plays the role of Wade’s beau, Vanessa, and has appeared in every installment so far. In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ the two are broken up, but their past relationship is a massive part of what drives Deadpool to improve himself and attempt to save his own reality from disappearing.

Fans have long wanted for Vanessa to take on a more superhero-oriented role in the franchise, specifically as Copycat since this would be a natural transition of her character arc as it happened in the comics. As it turns out, the actress is also waiting for it to happen.

Baccarin recently sat down with ComicBook and revealed that now is the right time for her to take on the role:

I’ve only been waiting like five years. I’m not getting any younger or skinnier, so now’s the time.

Copycat, whose real name is Vanessa Carlysle, is a mutant in Marvel Comics known for her ability to mimic others’ appearances and powers. She first appeared in ‘New Mutants’ #98 and is often connected to Deadpool, with whom she has a complicated romantic relationship.

There has been a lot of talk about bringing Copycat to the screen for years. Director Tim Miller wanted to include her in ‘Deadpool 2’ before he left the project, which would have added a fun twist to Wade and Vanessa’s relationship and given actress Morena Baccarin a more significant role.

Many fans feel that Vanessa hasn’t been used well since her first appearance, especially after a controversial plot point in ‘Deadpool 2,’ so it would be exciting to see Baccarin showcase her talent in a bigger action role in the MCU.

MCU is soon introducing X-Men and more mutants as a part of a live-action reboot, but it’s unlikely that Vanessa will be featured in the project. She might be brought in for ‘Deadpool 4’ but so far nothing is known about the possible sequel since both Deadpool and Wolverine are expected to show up in other MCU projects.
