Last week’s episode of ‘The Penguin’ left the audiences on quite the cliffhanger. We know that Sofia Gigante has joined forces with Salvatore Maroni and their common goal is simple – eliminate Oz Cobb as both are professionally and emotionally invested in his death.

During the majority of episode 6, we see Sofia and Salvatore desperately looking for any kind of weakness by rummaging through remnants of Oz’s personal life. Sofia aptly notices that Oz’s greatest strength is that he seemingly has no one that he cares about.

His brothers are dead, and Oz cleverly leads everyone to believe that his mother is dead as well. After talking with Oz’s “ladyfriend” Eve, Sofia discovers that Oz is actually hiding in Crown Point.

The episode ends with a shot of Vic and Francis, Oz’s mother dancing in the old derelict apartment while Sofia manages to sneak up on them and is presumably ready to strike them with a crowbar.

Sofia is perfectly capable of killing both of them, especially if she jumps them. We know that she is vicious, if she wasn’t The Hangman before, she certainly is now after a decade in Arkham Asylum.

FandomWire proposed an interesting theory that presents the only way that Vic can survive what Sofia has in store for him, and there are two approaches:

Mrs. Cobb Confronts Sofia: Mrs. Cobb might break through her mental haze and confront Sofia about her flaws, much like she did with Oswald. This direct confrontation could trigger Sofia, leading her to either shoot Mrs. Cobb or overdose her on Bliss, a drug in the series, to silence her.

Sofia Sees a Reflection of Herself in Mrs. Cobb: Mrs. Cobb’s deteriorating mental state could act as a mirror, making Sofia realize she’s becoming like her father. This realization might prompt Sofia to choose a different path, sparing those around her. This scenario could give Victor a chance at survival, as he accidentally saved her life, possibly earning her favor.

However you look at it, It’s likely that Francis won’t survive this encounter. We still need something big to happen to Oz that will make him lose it and viciously retaliate against the Gigantes. That is if the show aims to show his ultimate rise to the “throne” of Gotham criminal underworld.
