‘Agatha All Along’ concluded last week with two final episodes. While the majority of the mysteries have been revealed, some how been further complicated potentially to explore in future MCU installments.
One of the biggest mysteries was the identity of Wanda’s second twin – Tommy Maximoff. While we know that Billy managed to reincarnate into the body of Billy Kaplan, Tommy had no such luck.
Billy sets out onto the Witches Road in order to locate his brother, claiming that he can sense him. However, it appears that Tommy’s soul merely exists somewhere else, in a different plane, and is untethered from his physical body. During the events of Episode 8, Agatha helps Billy to focus and find his brother in the “Void.”
Billy sees a vision of a boy, a victim of a teen prank that is about to drown, and guides his brother’s soul into that body. Agatha confirms that the boy didn’t die beacuse Billy needed his body – “sometimes little boys just die.”
We know that Tommy is out there, but we don’t know where, and if the recent rumors are clear that’s going to be the main plot of the solo Wiccan show, as Billy sets out to locate his brother, this time in a physical sense.
‘Agatha All Along’ showrunner recently commented on Tommy’s resurrection. She hinted that it could be explored further in future stories.
The intention is that, yes, he got what he was missing in that he successfully put Tommy’s soul into a body of that young man who was the victim of a teen prank. You know how these things go, and we’ll see in future properties if they stick to that narrative.
Schaeffer also shared that the resurrection scene was difficult to film because Tommy had not been cast yet, and they had to shoot it in a way that kept his identity hidden. When asked if Tommy has been cast now, she humorously replied that she didn’t know anything.
We loved the idea that Agatha would fully step into her mentor role in her nasty, nasty way, and that she would help Billy harness one of his biggest powers: to bring his brother back. It was a tricky thing to shoot because Tommy was not cast at that time, and so we had to shoot it in an obscure way.
I know nothing. I literally know nothing. At the time of making Agatha All Along, there was not a Tommy.
She also highlighted the contrast between Billy’s love-driven actions and Agatha’s cold, sinister approach, which the writers found both fascinating and unsettling.
While Schaeffer acknowledged that she doesn’t know when or where the story of Agatha, Billy, and Tommy will continue, she teased that more of their journey will likely appear in the MCU, though she is unsure about the specifics, especially regarding the upcoming ‘Vision’ show.
Everyone in the [writers’] room just loved that there was something kind of terrifying about it, that it was something done on Billy’s side out of love, but that Agatha was all fingernails and meanness
I can’t speak to the direct handoff to the Vision show. But I think that people are meant to expect more of Billy and Agatha somewhere in the MCU. I don’t know what’s going on with that show, and I just wish them well. I love Paul Bettany so deeply, and I can’t wait to see what they do.
