During the D23 Marvel Studios panel in Brazil, a new ‘Thunderbolts*’ special look was revealed to the public. The teaser showcased plenty of humor, action, and the return of our favorite (anti) heroes.
The special look also seemingly confirmed that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine bought the Avengers Tower.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ revealed that Tony Stark was planning to sell Avengers Tower, with Happy Hogan overseeing the relocation of equipment while the Vulture tried to steal it.
In ‘Spider-Man: Far For Home’ it can be seen that the building is undergoing renovations. In the ‘Thunderbolts*’ trailer, the new team in the MCU can be seen gathering in what appears to be a remodeled Avengers Tower. Since Thunderbolts answer to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, we can assume that she was behind the purchase of the tower.
In the three-and-a-half-minute video, CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) pours herself a glass of champagne at a bar in a New York skyscraper that looks very familiar.
How crazy is it to think of all the monumental fights that happened exactly here where you’re standing? I mean, the place wasn’t cheap, but it’s got good optics.
Back when the first trailer for ‘Thunderbolts*’ was released, we speculated that Avengers Tower might be remodeled into Sentry’s famous Watchtower.
In the comics, the Watchtower served as the home and headquarters of Sentry, located in midtown Manhattan near Columbus Circle. It was a tall structure topped with a large golden sphere and had black crossing fins.
An artificial intelligence named CLOC managed the Watchtower, monitoring global communications and alerting Sentry to major emergencies.
When Sentry was defeated by his arch-nemesis, the General, he used his powers to make everyone on Earth forget about him, causing the Watchtower to be “ignored” and effectively disappear for decades.
Later, Tony Stark decided to build a new office tower and unknowingly chose the Watchtower’s location. As a result, the Watchtower became integrated into Stark Tower, remaining unnoticed due to Sentry’s powers.
We might still see this play out in the MCU, considering that drafts of the Watchtower could be seen in the trailer, but at least for now, we know who the new owner of Avengers towers is.
