Marvel Reveals First Look at 2025’s X-Men Series: ‘Magik’ #1

The highly-anticipated MAGIK ongoing series hits shelves on January 8. Written by Ashley Allen (X-MEN: BLOOD HUNT – MAGIK) and illustrated by Germán Peralta (BLACK PANTHER, LOKI), this series follows the X-Men’s Magik as she takes on mystical threats aimed at the mutant community. Today, check out all the covers and get an early look at the interior artwork.

One standout cover is Peach Momoko’s take on a brand-new villain, The Demon Crow. Fans can also preview Magik’s first confrontation with this mysterious enemy. Other covers include works by popular artists like Jeehyung Lee and David Nakayama, with both available as virgin variant editions, a special foil variant cover by Dike Ruan, and a striking pinup of Magik by Jay Anacleto.

There’s also a glimpse of Peralta’s redesign of Illyana’s Darkchilde form! Her demonic alter ego is back, offering her more power—but it comes at a price.

Illyana Rasputina steps out on her own with new allies and dangerous enemies. When something ancient stirs under the Alaskan ice, it crosses paths with the wrong mutant—Magik.

Illyana is such a fascinating character. She’s been through a lot but still pushes herself to make the world better. I think that drive to leave a positive mark is something many fans, including me, can relate to. She’s sarcastic and guarded but deeply cares for her friends and family.

Comics are also about the visuals, and Illyana’s powers give us so much room to create amazing scenes. From her spells to her teleporting abilities and her Soulsword—who doesn’t love a hero with a sword?
