‘Spider-Man 4’ was confirmed to be in development last year, but details are still limited. What we do know is that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return to their roles, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the movie.

Recently, Ryan Meinerding shared that this movie will kick off Spider-Man’s second trilogy. He also confirmed that the first trilogy was officially called the “Home” trilogy because all the movie titles included the word “Home.”

Now yesterday, The Cosmic Circus reported that the working title for the upcoming Spider-Man flick is ‘Blue Oasis’ by a production company called Blaze Films, Inc. ‘Spider-Man 4’ is set to release on July 24, 2026, placing it right between ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on the Marvel movie timeline.

Working titles are often used to hide the true nature of the project on set so as to deter unwelcome passersby who might be intrigued by the project by recognizing the name of the high-budget production. Still, the working titles are often leaked and the people most likely to disturb the set still find out about them. They are also often loosely connected to the movie.

Spider-Man 4’s working title was not the only update we had yesterday, as Deux Moi reported that ‘Outer Banks’ star Madelyn Cline is reportedly joining the production. Most fans assumed that she is joining as Black Cat, but now that the working title has been reveled, we’re not so sure.

‘Spider-Man: Blue Oasis’ might refer to ‘Spider-Man: Blue’ a story by Jeph Loeb and and Tim Sale. In the story, on Valentine’s Day, Spider-Man feels sad and reflects on his first love, Gwen Stacy, who died long ago but still deeply affects him.

He records his memories of how they fell in love, recounting events from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ comics. These include battles with villains, who are hinted to be manipulated by Kraven the Hunter, and Peter’s struggles between Gwen and Mary Jane Watson, with tensions involving his friend Harry Osborn.

In the end, Peter remembers Gwen asking him to be her Valentine. He shares how her death left a lasting impact on him, even though Mary Jane helped him find love again. When Mary Jane overhears his reflections, she isn’t upset. Instead, she empathizes and encourages Peter to tell Gwen they both miss her.

It would be difficult to adapt this story in the MCU currently since Gwen Stacy hasn’t been introduced. But it’s not impossible. The MCU could introduce Gwen, and this is where Madelyn Cline comes in. Madelyn could “replace” MJ in the movie as the new supporting character and love interest.

The real twist comes at the end of the movie when Gwen is killed off. The movie could see the relationship between them blossom, and following Stacy’s death, this might prompt Spider-Man to tamper with the multiverse more, after he has been described as the prime guilty party of the current Multiversal collapse.
