Jonathan Majors Out of Hot Water? Ex-Girlfriend Drops Assault & Defamation Lawsuit

Following the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ the superhero media world was shaken by allegations brought to light against Jonathan Majors.

The actor was introduced in ‘Loki’ Season 1 as He Who Remains and in ‘Quantumania’ as Kang the Conqueror and was supposed to be the next big villain for the Multiversal Saga.

Since then Jonathan Majors’ career has been in somewhat of a freefall and he was arrested in March 2023 after an alleged assault of a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend.

He was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.

However, the actor maintained his innocence throughout the process, and his legal team assured him that they’d prove his undoubted innocence. First, they released text messages between Majors and the alleged victim, but that only seemed to backfire against Jonathan – at least in the public eye.

In December, the guilty verdict came and Disney fired Majors, which prompted numerous changes within the franchise. As you likely know by now Majors’ Kang the Conqueror has been completely replaced as the main villain, replaced by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Majors was ultimately found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of reckless assault and harassment. As a first-time offender with no prior criminal record, was ordered to complete a 52-week, in-person batterer’s intervention program in Los Angeles, where he resides.

But, as that legal case was unfolding Grace Jabbari filed one more lawsuit against the actor. She alleged assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution, and defamation.

The defamation claim stems from comments Majors made in a ‘Good Morning America’ interview following his conviction, where he denied physically harming a woman. During the trial, Majors’ attorney repeatedly accused Jabbari of lying about her injuries from the March 2023 incident.

It seems that Jabbari decided to drop the federal lawsuit as Deadline confirmed. During the lawsuit filing, the actor’s former partner shared detailed accounts of alleged verbal and physical abuse by Majors.

The civil lawsuit, which sought multiple damages, describes a series of violent incidents in the couple’s relationship starting in 2021, during the filming of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ in the UK.

It detailed assaults, name-calling, broken headphones, and self-blame, with the events becoming more graphic than what was mentioned in Majors’ trial last year.

After the filing was made public, Chaudhry said it was expected and confirmed that Majors is preparing counterclaims against Jabbari. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office, which won Majors’ criminal trial, declined to comment on the new legal action.

Previously, as soon as Robert Downey Jr.’s casting was revealed, Jonathan Majors expressed regret for losing the role and hinted that racism might play a big part in his firing. Even with the lawsuit dropped it’s unlikely that Majors will return to the franchise as ultimately, he was already found guilty and sentenced, the studio likely doesn’t want anything to do with him.
