“Waller” was announced in 2022 as a spinoff of “Peacemaker,” with Viola Davis returning as the main character. Unlike “Peacemaker,” this show won’t be a comedy because Amanda Waller is a much more serious character, and the tone will reflect that.

The show was initially planned for release in 2024, but with James Gunn now focused on other DCU projects, the show’s release date remains uncertain.

Considering that Gunn also hasn’t mentioned the show all that much in his latest interviews, plenty of fans are wondering if the show is in active development at all. Luckily, James Gunn who is really active on social media and answers fan inquiries regularly confirmed that yes, the show is in active development, but that is as many details as you will get from the director.

Understandable if you can’t currently say but is Waller still in active development as it hasn’t been mentioned in recent interviews when talking about upcoming projects.

A few months back James Gunn confirmed that ‘Waller’ will take place after ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, so the timeline on these projects is really clear cut. So far the release dates of the projects aligns with their in-universe chronology with ‘Creature Commadons’ being the “earliest” point in time, followed by ‘Superman’ and then ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 which is confirmed to take place after ‘Superman.’

The cast of the show is still unclear with Viola Davis reprising her role from the former DCEU. Davis will debut in DCU in ‘Creature Commados’ which releases on December 5th, 2024.
