Lady Death Could Be the Perfect Villain for the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Sequel Following ‘Secret Wars’

The last two MCU projects, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Agatha All Along’ brought plenty of interesting characters to the MCU. Among them of course, Deadpool and Lady Death. Aubrey Plaza’s portrayal of the character has so far been pretty campy, and we truly hope to see her in future projects.

Considering her comic relationship with Deadpool, she would be a pretty good fit for his own series of movies, now that Thanos is gone from the MCU, and quite frankly his version of the character doesn’t quite match Plaza’s Rio Vidal.

Many fans see Death as Deadpool’s true love, similar to how Mary Jane is for Spider-Man or Lois Lane is for Superman. As an immortal being, Deadpool faces many challenges trying to be with Death, his one true love.

Deadpool met Death while being tortured at Weapon X, and they fell in love. However, their relationship faces problems when Thanos, who is obsessed with Death, tries to steal her away.

To stop Deadpool from being with her, Thanos curses him with immortality, making it impossible for him to die. Despite Deadpool’s attempts to find a way around it, his healing powers keep him alive, and he can only see Death when he’s close to death, which causes tension between them.

Eventually, Thanos lifted the curse on Deadpool, allowing him to be with Death. However, by then, their relationship was strained, and they had broken up. After that, Deadpool married a succubus named Shiklah, but they became estranged, and she later married Dracula instead.

After the curse was lifted, Deadpool and Death never fully reconciled, until ‘Deadpool: The End.’ In this comic, Deadpool tries to find a way to kill Death to save his 97-year-old daughter, who is near death. However, his daughter has a different plan and brings a bomb that will kill them both, so Deadpool doesn’t have to live on without her. When the bomb goes off, Death appears behind them, placing her hands on their shoulders.

The ending of this comic is typical of Deadpool, with multiple possible endings for fans to choose from. The main and most exciting ending shows Deadpool reconnecting with Death as he becomes the King of Hell, and they are finally together.

The MCU can use a different approach

Considering that Thanos is out of the picture, the MCU can use a different approach that already ties into Rio Vidal’s established story in the cinematic universe. Following ‘Secret Wars’ and the MCU’s rumored reboot, Deadpool just might be the only survivor who remembers what happened prior to the reboot, and this might unwillingly put him in the focus of Lady Death.

Both in the comics and in the MCU Deadpool is practically immortal, we know how much he longed for death when Vanessa was taken from him, and he never quite managed to die no matter how extreme his approach was.

We know that Lady Death in ‘Agatha All Along’ wanted to kill Billy due to the unnatural way he reincarnated, she was also chasing Agatha herself due to her unnaturally long life. We also learn that the only way for Billy to truly die is under his own free will, otherwise, he will keep reincarnating which severely brings the natural order of things under question.

The MCU can easily pit Death against Deadpool due to his unnatural immortality and his ability to break the 4th wall. Vanessa is out of the way for this weird relationship as was confirmed by the events of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The Merc With the Mouth is no longer dating her and she seems to have a different beau.

In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Lady Death might be chasing Deadpool, trying to kill him and reap his soul, but he eventually turns things around by falling in love with her. Lady Death’s humor and behavior all too well match Deadpool’s campiness.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine 2’ so far hasn’t been confirmed but the latest rumors claim that the sequel is in early development, or at least being discussed. We have no doubt that Lady Death will at least be referenced in the movie, as it truly is Deadpool’s most iconic relationship in the comics.
