‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ was well-received by fans when it came out in 2017. Many praised Tom Holland’s performance as Peter Parker, saying he captured the youthful, relatable side of Spider-Man perfectly. Fans loved how the movie balanced humor, action, and heart, making it feel fresh compared to previous Spider-Man movies.
This is why the movie is still discussed today, and we’re always eager to share more details related to its development and release.
Now some fresh new interesting stories surfaced in large part thanks to WWE Superstar Austin Theory.
Before making it big in WWE, Austin Theory worked as an extra in Hollywood projects filmed in Atlanta, including ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. He appeared as a prison inmate in the mid-credits scene where Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) meets Mac Gargan (Michael Mando).
Theory revealed that the scene was shot in an actual prison with real inmates behind bars!
That was a crazy day, they were actually in the Jackson prison in Georgia. We went down there. We put on prisoner outfits and everything, and they said, ‘Hey, make sure when we tell you guys to line up and you’re walking to not touch the bars, do not encourage the inmates, because the inmates were yelling at us.’
They were wild, yeah, yeah. So this was real. And then we’re in two lines. So one line’s walking this way down the hall, and one’s going this way. And then you have the scene with Michael Keaton, and you can see me walk right by real quick, and a couple of people have caught it online. Maybe they bring me back in the Marvel Universe.

This is not the first time we’ve heard about this, however, as Mando was very vocal about it when the movie was released. Michael Mando shared in an interview that his end credits scene in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ was filmed during a real prison riot. The noise from people screaming made it impossible to hear, so they had to redo all the dialogue later as voiceovers.
This is certainly one of the most interesting BTS stories we’ve heard, and of course, we’d be glad to see Theory back in the MCU, perhaps in a more significant role!
