‘Thunderbolts*’ is one of the most exciting upcoming projects in the MCU. The movie will introduce a team similar to DC’s Suicide Squad, made up of former villains and anti-heroes who are now on a better path in the MCU.
The movie will also introduce Sentry, one of Marvel’s most powerful characters, played by Lewis Pullman. We know most of the team members. David Harbour will return as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker (U.S. Agent). Olga Kurylenko will reprise her role as Taskmaster, and Florence Pugh will return as Yelena Belova, the MCU’s new Black Widow.
Not much is known about the plot of the movie so far except for what the official synopsis has revealed to us. The movie will reportedly see Thunderbolts sent on various missions until they realize they are purposely being pitted against each other.
The movie reportedly recently had a test screening and the reactions have been very positive. Yelena is apparently the main character, with Sentry having a comic-accurate outfit with some differences.
The test audiences were most impressed with the action scenes and the tone of the movie which is similar to that of ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ Judging by the fan reactions to the first promotional materials, this sounds accurate, but I guess we won’t know until the movie releases.
Now, industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed that despite the studio being happy overall with the movie, it’s heading for reshoots.
This was revealed via a private paid Newsletter and the reasons for reshoots haven’t been revealed so far.
This is nothing to be worried about as reshoots are fairly common. They happen when filmmakers need to fix certain scenes, add new ones, or improve the story after seeing how the movie comes together in editing.
Reshoots can also address feedback from test audiences or ensure the movie matches the studio’s expectations, however, those are usually lengthier and more costly reshoots.
