Untitled Marvel Movie Reportedly Set to Begin Filming in the UK Fall 2025: Here’s 3 Top Candidates

Marvel recently updated its release schedule for 2024, 2025 and beyond. 2025 will be full of both live-action and animated releases and quite a lot of projects are currently in production, or will enter production.

The studios’ filming schedule is busy as ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ ‘Spider-Man 4,’ and ‘Vision Quest’ are all movies expected to begin filming in 2025, mostly in England.

Now Daniel Richtman, a notable industry insider recently shed light on one more report. Apparently, the studio has one more project slated to begin filming in the UK in the fall of 2025.

This information was revealed via Richtman’s paid newsletter and it was not officially confirmed by the studio. Now it’s hard to keep track of all the rumored and confirmed projects that the studio is currently dealing with, but there are a few movies that are more likely than the others.

The untitled movie could be ‘Shang-Chi 2.’ In December 2021, a sequel to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ was announced, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to return as the writer and director. Simu Liu is also expected to reprise his role as Shang-Chi. Filming WAS planned to start in March 2025, but strangely we had almost no updates for the movie.

Recently, Liu published a workout video and fans immediately started speculating that he is likely preparing to take on the MCU role again. ‘Shang-Chi 2’ would be an excellent addition to the filming slate considering that this alleged movie is supposed to be released between ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ and Ten Rings were rumored to play an extremely important role in the Multiversal Saga similar to the role of Infinity Stones.

The second likely movie is ‘Doctor Strange 3.’ In the last few months, there have been lots of rumors related to this upcoming threequel. Benedict Cumberbatch will return, as will Theron’s Clea this time with a bigger role. The movie is reportedly supposed to deal with a faction known as Black Priests, and include Dormammu as Strange is trying to fix “incursions” he has caused.

According to some reports Denzel Washington was supposed to play Dormammu, but he later confirmed that Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him in the upcoming ‘Black Panther 3.’

Once again judging by Strange’s rumored role in Multiverse Saga and his importance, ‘Doctor Strange 3’ is the most likely candidate for this filming slot.

Now the third possible movie is likely MCU’s most depressing production – ‘Blade.’

In May 2013, Marvel Studios began working on a new Blade film after regaining the rights. In February 2019, actor Mahershala Ali expressed interest in starring as Blade, and Marvel officially announced the film with Ali in July 2019. Ali made a brief voice cameo as Blade in ‘Eternals’ (2021).

In February 2021, Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired to write the script, and Bassam Tariq was chosen to direct. However, Tariq left in 2022 due to production changes and creative differences. Yann Demange was later set to direct in November 2022, with multiple script rewrites by different writers. Demange also left the production, as early as March 2024.

Filming was expected to take place in Mexico, the UK, and Atlanta. However, in October of this year, Blade was removed from the release schedule.

Considering that Feige relatively recently reassured fans that the studio is still actively involved with the movie and that Ali will star in the movie, we can likely expect that (if) the script is completed the movie will begin shooting in the fall of 2025.
