Daredevil: Born Again is coming soon and will bring back familiar characters like Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen.

While the plot is mostly unknown, some details have been revealed. Kingpin will be the Mayor of New York City and will use his power to eliminate vigilantes and superheroes. Both Matt and Kingpin will be plagued by the horrific villain Muse, and we might also see them make some sort of strained alliance.

At Fan Expo San Francisco, Charlie Cox and Wilson Bethel joined fans for a panel where they talked about their careers and return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Cox revealed some interesting details regarding his character.

Cox discussed his return to the role after such a long time and stated that it feels weird and no one has warned him about that as it’s uncommon to play a character this long in the industry.

Cox also answered some fan questions and one of the most interesting ones was the question related to the relationship with his mother.

Sister Margaret “Maggie” Grace is a nun who had an affair with Jack Murdock and gave birth to Matt Murdock. Due to her mental health struggles, she had to leave him, but they were later reunited when she and Paul Lantom helped Matt recover after being injured. When Matt learned the truth about his mother, he pushed her away.

Grace later cared for Karen Page after an attack, and Lantom was killed by Benjamin Poindexter. Matt eventually defeated Bullseye and Wilson Fisk, avenging Lantom’s death, and made peace with his mother, who stayed at the church.

The question was, now that 5 years have transpired between the events of ‘Daredevil’ season 3 and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ what was Matt’s relationship with his mother like? Cox gave us a rather amusing answer:

Oh man, I think Matt’s relationship with his mother is complicated. Matt probably has quite a few mommy issues.

Joanne Whalley, the actress who plays Sister Maggie so far wasn’t confirmed to take part in the reboot, but based on Cox’s comments we might expect her return to her role. As Cox stated the relationship is complicated and there’s a lot to unpack in that dynamic.
