‘Rogue One’ is still, eight years after its release considered to be one of the best Star Wars installments. The movie serves as a prequel to ‘Star Wars: A New Hope,’ following a group of rebels who steal the Death Star plans, leading to the Rebel Alliance’s first victory against the Empire. Praised for its darker tone, story, and visuals, the film grossed over $1 billion worldwide and inspired the prequel series ‘Andor.’
‘Andor’ already has one season behind it with the second and final season expected to premiere on April 22, 2025. Despite having a massive, arguably the most important role in ‘Rogue One,’ Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso was not a part of ‘Andor’ season 1. It didn’t make sense to include the character at all considering that during the events of the first season, her character would not be associated with Rebel Alliance as she was a prisoner of the Empire.
Considering that season 2 covers a much wider time-span with multiple time jumps, the question remains, can we expect Jones to reprise her role?
Over a year ago, the actress stated that Jyn wouldn’t be returning to the screens, but that she was hopeful that her character would resurface somewhere.
“I’m afraid to say I won’t be, but I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. But no, sadly I won’t be.”
Now in her most recent interview with Screen Rant, Felicity Jones cast doubt on her prior statements. Jones hinted that her character Jyn Erso might return to the Star Wars universe, suggesting that anything is possible in the franchise, even as a hologram. She emphasized that Jyn is a strong character and expressed hope that her story isn’t over.
I mean, never say never. She’s a pretty badass character. Maybe she could come back as a hologram or something, which is completely possible in the Star Wars universe.
Felicity Jones originally signed a multi-film contract for Star Wars projects, and so far she only appeared in ‘Rogue One’ and the 2D animated web series ‘Star Wars Forces of Destiny.’
