‘Black Panther’ 3 Could Play an Important Role for the Future ‘Secret Wars’ Installment, Here’s How

In November 2022, it was revealed that Ryan Coogler and Kevin Feige had talked about making a third ‘Black Panther’ movie. The movie was never officially confirmed to be in development until recently when Denzel Washington stated that Coogler was writing him a role in the upcoming movie.

‘Wakanda Forever’ wasn’t as successful as the original ‘Black Panther’ movie, but it was still a massive film that introduced new characters, and ultimately, MCU’s replacement for Black Panther – Shuri. Her story is bound to be continued and the latest theory points towards Doctor Doom being in the mix.

Before ‘Wakanda Forever’ was released, due to its vibranium-centric plot, fans hoped that the movie would introduce Doctor Doom, obviously that did not happen and Doom will instead debut in either ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ or ‘Doomsday.’ Still, that doesn’t mean that Doom’s connection to Wakanda can be ignored.

Nothing is known about the development of the third movie, much less its stage of development, but if our theory proves correct, the movie might be released between ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ Why? Well, due to the famous ‘Doomwar’ storyline.

The story begins with Wakanda in political turmoil. Queen Ororo (Storm) of Wakanda, the wife of King T’Challa, is accused of treason by a group of Wakandan dissidents manipulated by Doctor Doom. Doom’s goal is to access Wakanda’s vast vibranium reserves, a nearly indestructible metal with unique properties, which he plans to weaponize.

Doctor Doom orchestrates a coup against T’Challa and Shuri. He seeks the mystical connection Wakandans have with vibranium to harness its full potential.

In a shocking twist, T’Challa renders all vibranium inert to prevent Doom—or anyone else—from weaponizing it. This decision has far-reaching consequences for Wakanda, as its technological superiority and economic strength are deeply tied to vibranium.

Now clearly, we lack both Storm and T’Challa currently in the MCU, but the MCU can find a way around it. Shuri played an important role in the story in any case – she was THE Black Panther in the story, which corresponds to her current role in the franchise.

One of the most important parts of that story are also the Fantastic Four, and luckily, by the time ‘Black Panther 3’ premieres they will already be part of the MCU.

We know that the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will be dealing with world governments who are seeking to exploit Adamantium deposits created by the Celestial corpse. We’ve also already seen Wakanda’s vibranium attacked in ‘Wakanda Forever’ and there’s no reason not to put the country on Doom’s radar especially when he will clearly need all the power he can get to stage Doomsday and Secret Wars.

The movie might also focus on that tense alliance that Wakanda now has with Talokanil, Namor was introduced as a big character in the movie, but so far we’ve heard nothing about him and his possible future appearances.

Adapting ‘Doomwar’ would be interesting to see in the MCU, especially due to the fact that Wakanda will clearly have a big role in the future of the franchise, taking into account the number of projects focusing on the country currently in development.
