Taika Waititi is mostly known for his unique sense of humor and creativity. He directed the successful movie ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ in 2017, which helped transform the character of Thor in the MCU. Waititi also won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for his film ‘Jojo Rabbit’ and is involved in many creative projects, including acting and producing in several major franchises.

Following his success with the MCU, and his work on ‘The Mandalorian,’ where he directed an episode and voiced the droid IG-11, he was supposed to direct an untitled project for LucasFilm. Not much is known about the movie and the state of it is mysterious to say the least.

Now industry insider Daniel Richtman shared on his Patreon account that Waititi’s movie is on indefinite hold.

This is not surprising considering that new trilogy of movies is currently in development at the studio, alongside Mangold’s ‘Dawn of the Jedi’ movie. Richtman also reported that ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’ helmed by Patty Jenkins is back in development.

Waititi himself recently commented on the state of his upcoming projects, and one of them was untitled Star Wars movie, his update was confusing to say the least but sort of supports what Richtman is saying.

What was ever alive? What is death? You know, death is just a new opportunity. More life to grow and flourish. Everything’s always in development. My advice for any filmmaker is, ‘Just say yes to everything.’ Because, you know, things come and go.

And you never know what stage things are. And I’ve been attached to things that have disappeared for three years and then bubbled back up. I’m like, ‘Oh, I thought that thing was dead. Now I’ve got to go do that again.
