Max To Remove 4 Fan-Favorite DC Animated Shows at the End of 2024

Max, the streaming home of countless DC shows and movies, is facing some unexpected changes as four fan-favorite DC animated series are set to leave its library by the start of 2025. Over the years, Max has been the go-to place for DC fans, but recently, WB has been removing a lot of its content.

Warner Bros. Discovery has yet to confirm (not sure if they will, since they don’t like to do it) the removal, but a fellow Redditor reports that Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series will no longer be available after December 31.

Static Shock, which debuted in 2000 on the now-defunct KidsWB, introduced viewers to Virgil Hawkins, a teenager who gains electromagnetic powers after a freak accident. The series quickly became a fan favorite due to its mix of humor, action, and social themes.

Despite a few rumors of a live-action adaptation dating a few months back, there hasn’t been any new progress for the project. I guess it’s not getting greenlit if it doesn’t have a script ready. 🙂

Another major loss will be Teen Titans, the 2003 hit that brought Robin, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and Cyborg together. Its spinoff, Teen Titans Go!, is also sunsetting as of January 1st. With over 400 episodes and even a theatrical release, the show’s popularity is hard to overstate.

The final DC animated series on the list is Green Lantern: The Animated Series, a short-lived but another fan-favorite (I guess) show that took fans on adventures with Hal Jordan and Kilowog. Despite lasting only one season, it’s always good seeing Hal in action.

The reasons behind these removals remain unclear, though it may be part of Max’s ongoing effort to reorganize its streaming catalog. With the recent push for new projects under James Gunn’s DCU leadership, the focus seems to be shifting toward fresh content like Creature Commandos and upcoming live-action films (one more reminder that we are getting a Clayface movie before Batman/Flash/WW/Aquaman movie in the DCU).

Whether these 4 shows will find a new home or return to Max in the future remains to be seen. For now, fans of these shows might want to revisit them before they potentially disappear from the platform. You have exactly 2 weeks left.
