Marvel Studios has plenty of both rumored and confirmed projects in development. Some of them are new ideas and some have been unfortunately in development for a long time, even before the SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry.

While fans are looking forward to the X-Men live-action reboot, ‘Avengers’ movies, and ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ it’s easy to forget that some projects have been in development for years without a clear release date or updates.

Two of the most troubled projects currently are ‘Blade’ reboot staring Mahershala Ali in the titular role, and ‘Armor Wars,’ a movie-turned-show-turned-movie that’s been in development for more than a decade.

‘Blade’ has recently been pulled from Disney’s release slate (again) but Feige assured fans during Brazil’s D23 that the project is still in development with Ali set to star. ‘Armor Wars’ however did not have such a direct update. Don Cheadle himself recently commented that he has no idea what’s going on with the project.

Now the latest unconfirmed update is coming to us from Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez. Perez recently commented on the projects on his Discord AMA. Perez explained that ‘Blade’ is currently a higher priority than ‘Armor Wars,’ with progress being made on finding a director and updating the story to a modern setting, while Lilith remains the main villain. On the other hand, ‘Armor Wars’ has seen little movement, although there have been discussions about adapting the 2015 comic run.

Alex Perez: Blade’s got more priority to push out at the moment as opposed to Armor Wars. Right now, they’re just looking to find a director to direct the project, but it’s going along better than it was previously. The story now has a modern time setting, but Lilith is still the main villain and she isn’t a one-and-done villain.

Armor Wars hasn’t had any movement since I last spoke about it. There have been explorations of adapting the 2015 version of the Armor Wars comic run, but it really hasn’t moved on that much since.

As you can see, things are currently unchanged, and both movies seem to be as far away from release as possible.
