‘Action Comics’ #1080 Brings a New Twist to DC’s Universe – Is DC Getting Mutants?

‘Action Comics’ #1080 was recently released and the issue took the El family to travel across the galaxy to capture escaped Phantom Zone prisoners. Written by Mark Waid with art by Clayton Henry, this penultimate issue introduces an array of new characters—Kryptonians from the Phantom Zone who have escaped their imprisonment.

These powerful beings, described as Krypton’s own version of mutants, are wreaking havoc across the universe.

As you can see the “condition” is being described as “genetic anomalies” but in reality those are mutations, but before you assume DC is getting its own version of X-Men, this guys can’t be farther from that.

The issue also teased the return of General Zod. So far, the mutants only manifested pyrokinetic abilities, but there’s a lot of space to expand upon this in the future..

Action Comics #1081 lands on 25.12., the official synopsis states:

It’s all led to this! As the final battle between Aethyr’s forces and the heroes of Earth reaches its climax, the Phantom Zone is changed forever… altered from the ground up and ready for new prisoners. But who of the super family will be amongst them? It’s the shocking finale to the Action Comics weekly, and you’re going to have to read it to believe it!
